What the people say...
Looking at joys and toys from the outside, it's a little difficult to really distinguish what kind of store they are. Thrift store? Antique toyshop? Those are just the first things that come to mind. A record store would certainly be the last. But the truth is, they're all three. Despite the sign that says "we sell records" on the window, you wouldn't really think you'd get a good score here simply based on everything else they sell. You might think "cool, now I know where to go to get that Barbara Streisand Christmas Album." But joys and toys prove that you shouldn't judge a book (album?) by its cover. The record selection is in the back, and totally worth checking out. They only sell used records, but they're all in great shape, very well organized, and they have a really wide variety. Seriously, if you want some Tupac on vinyl, you can probably find it here. And if you're used to city slicking it to record stores, you'll be happy to know that it's only $0.25 to park for an hour. So a half a buck should cover your time to really take in the whole store. Have fun!

In My Opinion...
Joys and Toys is one of the most delightful little surprised tucked in the corner of Hatboro, PA. While looking for a thrift store, I stumbled upon this treasure. From the outside, it is quite hard to determine what exactly they sell in this tiny storefront, but I was intrigued enough to venture inside. Once you step foot into Joys and Toys, you are transported into a whole other world. There are toys, antiques, ceramics, old kitchenware, and much more piled from the floor to the ceiling. It would take days to look through all of the collectable, rare, weird, exciting items they have in the front of the store. As you dazedly walk through in wonder, you will reach the back of the store, where hundreds of records are for sale. Each record is in great condition; they are scratch free and the covers are in great shape. I believe the storeowners, who are two incredibly friendly people, take pride in selling their items. They pretty much only sell the best, but at a reasonable price! If nothing else, Joys and Toys is incredibly fair in pricing. Most of the time, the owner will “bundle” the records, and give me a discount on all of them. The only thing I would say negatively about Joys and Toys is its unruly business hours. They are hardly ever open when I can actually make it out to Hatboro, but when I find the time I make the trip!

Record Breakdown
Type of Vinyl: New and Used
Trade-ins?
Pricing: Used records are on the more expensive side. Roughly $5-$15 for one record. New records compare to the pricing on Amazon. Roughly $20-$25 a piece.
Average Condition: Although the used records are on the higher side, their condition is pretty great. The covers are consistantly in tact, and the records are clean of scratches.
Digging Required? Not much. The records are organized fairly well, and are all located on waist-high selving. A majority of the used and new records are not broken down by genre, so there is where a majority of the digging will be required. They are alphabetical, which helps a great deal.
Great for people looking for: New records of all genres, box sets, metal and hardcore, indie, and 45s.
